University of Montreal UdeM Exemption Scholarship for International Students Canada, 2022/2023

The University of Montreal has approximately 18,195 graduate students and 49,193 undergraduate students. Approximately 73% of the university’s students are undergraduates, while 27% are graduate. The UdeM Exemption Scholarship is now available for Graduate, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels in all subjects at the University of Montreal, Canada.

The only criteria used to evaluate the financial award are the strength of the candidate’s academic record. Analysis of the results of the evaluation is classified into three levels as follows: 

  • Level A: 11,998$ each year, 2 sessions for 30 credits, or 5,999$ each session with 15 credits or 399$ for one credit.  
  • Level B: 5,718$ each year, 2 sessions for 30 credits, or 2,859$ each session with 15 credits or 190.60$ for one credit. 
  • Level C: 2,000$ each year, 2 sessions for 30 credits, or 1,000$ each session with 15 credits or 66.67$ for one credit.  

Masters Level: 

In order to help students to graduate as internationals, a scholarship for a limited waiver of the extra fees typically assessed to international students is also provided. 

  • 9,420$ each year, for 3 sessions for 45 credits, or 3,140$ for each session which is equivalent for 15 credits.  

PhD Level: 

In order to help students to graduate as internationals, a scholarship for a limited waiver of the extra fees typically assessed to international students is also provided. 

  • 19,339$ each year for 3 sessions which is equivalent to 45 credits, 6,546$ each session which is equivalent to 15 credits available all the duration of studies.  

Eligibility requirements: 

In order to receive a Global Excellence Graduate Fellowship, the applicant must meet all required criteria: 

  • Applicants should be licensed students who are neither permanent residents nor Canadian citizens; 
  • Has to be registered full-time in a program of study for the entire duration of his/her studies; 
  • Must not benefit from any other form of tuition waiver through any other policy or measure. For example, French and Belgian francophone students already benefit from this type of exemption. 

Application process:

After choosing the programs of study they are interested in and filling out the application form, a code will be provided to students in order to access the “Student Centre” platform. It is where students can can track their application and receive their proposed acceptance letter. 

There is no need to apply for the scholarship separately. Successful students will be automatically considered after the evaluation of files of applicantion.

After receiving their offer of admission, the Université of Montréal will inform students by e-mail of the amount of the exemption bursary to which they are entitled.
